Cooking with Gooey

Aniyah's Story

Aniyah is a good student but struggles at times when she is confused with schoolwork and gets stressed out about falling behind. Ever since coming to Reaching Higher, she hasn’t had the stress and anxiety of falling behind because she is receiving the tutoring help she needs. On top of that, she has been an awesome recruiter for the program inviting friends and fellow classmates to attend and receive the help they too need.

Aniyah loves to cook and one day wants to have her own cooking show called “Cooking with Gooey”, which is her nickname. Who knows, maybe one day she will be cooking for you in a restaurant owned and operated by her right here in Tulare, all because you decided to give today!

Providing Hope

Grayson's Story

Grayson Young is a 13-year-old 8th grade student at Cherry Avenue Middle School. The Executive Director of Reaching Higher, Ty Davis, has been fortunate enough to know Graysen since she was 6 years old as a past member of the Boys & Girls Clubs while he was the Director of the Tulare Boys & Girls Club. For as long as Ty Davis can remember, Grayson has wanted to go to college to become a lawyer. Today, her goals and aspirations have not wavered. Grayson was selected along with a handful of other Reaching Higher students to go on a college visit to UCLA earlier this year and her desire to attain a law degree has only grown since then. Grayson is a faithful attendee at the Tulare First Baptist Reaching Higher Site. There you will find her seeking guidance from volunteers and staff on how to improve her work, how to fill out scholarship applications, and always smiling. Grayson is one of the nicest students you will ever meet at Reaching Higher. She loves her social media and loves getting to know new people. She has the heart of a servant and is a follower of Jesus Christ. She is a leader at the TFBC Site and she is providing HOPE to all of her peers for a brighter future.
